Little School of Yoga

Yoga in schools

Incorporating a yoga programme into the school week works in-line with the Curriculum for Excellence by promoting the physical, mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing of pupils.

Sessions also help promote academic achievement by maximising a student’s focus and learning ability when they return to class.

Inclusivity is at the heart of all our classes, which also encourage confidence, independent thinking, teamwork and positive attitudes.

Little School of Yoga sessions are taught with a focussed, structured approach and can be tailored to suit your school’s need.

A massive thank you for all your hard work this term with the after school yoga sessions The session feedback was brilliant.

Practice Areas include yoga for Nursery, Primary plus Secondary school and can be introduced within:

  • The PE and PHSE Curriculum
  • Lunchtime or as an after-school or breakfast club activity
  • Intervention to maximise the achievement of disadvantaged students
  • Health Week

The following can also be provided:

  • Yoga and mindfulness for exams: aimed at helping students with exam stress anxiety and wellbeing during exam season.
  • Yoga for sports for sports teams / club sessions: as a way of improving performance and limiting injury
  • Yoga for teachers, staff and / or parents (staff and teachers need space and peace as much as students!)
  • Movement Based Learning (MBL) and Educational Kinesiology - Brain Gym: MBL is a series of movement-related exercises that help awaken the brain to make life and learning easier (developing neurological patterns where the building blocks are incomplete or missing). This is suitable for all ages, but is of particular benefit to differently-abled children and children presenting with ADHD, Autism etc. MBL can help improve focus or improved awareness of self and others.
